Sawyer wanted a "Welcome Home" party for Graham and picked out this cake :-) I think he thought it was His Birthday!!! Funny*
I know it has been a long time since I last updated. Life has just been so busy/chaotic/stressful/exciting :-) Graham finally beat the fevers and vomitting and is doing good. We were able to come home on Tuesday and will be headed back up on Tuesday morning. Graham will go through the same process on Tuesday as last time. He will be sedated and get his bone marrow aspirite, lumbar puncture and another CT Scan. His counts are still fairly low, but slowly creeping up and we are starting to see our little Graham again. We are so excited to be home for a few days and I honestly didn't remember how great sleeping in my bed was!! Being at home has not been easy....The night we got home Graham's feeding tube clogged and we could not get it cleared. He gets so many meds through his feeding tube along with his milk and it is such a tiny tube that it is easily clogged. We took it out and cleared the line and the next morning it was clogged again!!! So we ended up taking it out again and inserting a new/bigger one. Hopefully this is the end of our feeding tube problems....at least for the remainder of our stay at home.
Hi Everybody!!
We have so many medications that we have to give it is overwhelming!!! The last two days have been so stressful and busy....and that is an understatement! We have to not only give meds through his feeding tube we also have to give his antibiotics in his central line......I AM NO NURSE so this is pretty intimidating for Nathan and I. He has 7 different medications and they have to be given at the same times every day along with his scheduled feeds every 3 hours. I use to always joke with Nathan that a mother's work is never done (haha) well this has gone to a whole new level and at this point a parent's work is never done has taken it's place. It really has taken both of us along with our moms/sisters/sister-in-laws just to take care of our boys....period!
Just a portion of Grahams meds....So much for our week vacation :-)
Graham has been one happy boy! He loves being home....he really does :-) He has been so content and just loves swinging in his swing, relaxing in his bouncer and trying to roll over (he's almost there). He has just wanted to be left alone and doesn't want to be held. I think that he was so sick of being touched and bugged at the hospital that now he is so content to just hang out. He watched his first Baby Einstein yesterday and was mesmerized! He couldn't take his eyes off it....it was the Baby McDonald one and he sat in his bouncer and smiled.....So cute :-) He loves to lay and look out the patio window at the trees. I keep saying this, but he really is just so content.
The other night I was headed up to the hospital and was so exhausted. I really just couldn't hardly function. I was at a stop light and the light turned green and so the cars of course started moving. I was just watching the cars as a whole as opposed to the one directly in front of me and for some reason the truck stopped....I didn't and ran into his trailer hitch. I didn't hit very hard, but completely smashed up the front of my car. When it rains....it pours :-)
Well....Sawyer is not a match. We found out at the start of the week. When they told us I had mixed emotions (as I've explained before). But, it is what it is. When they told us for some reason the wise :-) words of my little nephew Boston came into my head. "Ya git what ya git and ya don't throw a fit." (funny little guy) So next week when we get back we will go over everything and talk more about it. Pretty sure we will just end up doing the next 4 rounds of chemo....I'm not sure if we even have any other options. I guess we will see.
It is so nice being at home and is so warm outside today....It makes me depressed thinking of starting everything back up again next week. Some days I feel like "We can do this"....other days I wonder "how are we going to do this." I feel like it is more do-able when I take one round at a time. I'm happy to say that round one goes to Graham!!!
Sawyer has been having to adjust a little again to us being back at home. He really loves baby Graham and wants to talk to him and play dinosaurs with him.....To be honest Graham is a little scared/nervous of Sawyer and his dinosaur friends and is not quite sure what to think of them. Sawyer is a very energetic/loud little man and he is always startling Graham with his yells and various noises....Graham is not use to the chaos that comes with Sawyer. The first day that we were home Graham was really nervous. He was looking around and you could tell that he wasn't quite sure where he was at and what was going on...it was kind of sad. Everything was so new to him. Well.....he has adjusted quickly and LOVES being home- I can tell :-)
I have been given so many great quotes and sayings and scriptures since this all began and I have written most of them down. The other day I was focusing on more of the negative than the positive and forgetting the bigger picture....My mom reminded me, "You can't have sunbeams without specks of dust". Well, this is a BIG speck of dust, but a speck nonetheless and when we reach the end I'm sure it will be a HUGE sunbeam....or at least it better be :-) Being reminded of this regularly keeps us going.....Because really the end result is what matters and everything in between is just those stupid specks of dust!!!
Does $6,000 a night seem a little steep for this room??......I think I'm being ripped off :-)
Our little guy's mott... TRUE GRIT :-)
Do I look bored??
