So far, so good.....
Sometimes I get nervous to write when good things happen because I'm afraid to jinx it! But...this is too good:-) When we got back up to the hospital on Monday the docs sent Graham down for another ultra-sound. They wanted to see how his blood clot was looking and if anything had changed. The man who did the ultra-sound was super nice and while talking we discovered we live in the same neighborhood...funny- anyways we chatted the whole time and when the doc came in to look at the scans she asked us what she was suppose to be looking at/for. I was a little confused?? I just figured that looking at the pics she would know exactly...the clot was quite obvious in previous scans. I told her and she looked again....then said what clot??? There is no clot. The blood in all moving in the right direction and the portal vein is nice and clear!! I seriously couldn't believe it- we were told that there was a very good chance that he would have the clot forever. I didn't let myself get too excited...I wanted to wait and talk to the oncologist to make sure....sure enough it has completely gone away!! I can't tell you how nice it is to get some good news. It really has given me a much needed boost and I can breathe just a little easier. Miracle.
Tonight...Nathan, Sawyer and I went to our good friends wedding reception. Nathan's mom came up and stayed with Graham and also my sister-in-law. So nice of them both!! Wow! much needed outing for all 3 of us!!! We saw so many of our friends and neighbors and it was so nice to be out in a social environment:-) see, normally when I am not at the hospital I am...well obviously at home with Nathan and Sawyer. Sometimes we go to the park or little things like that....which are so great! But, it was so fun to see people I know and could talk to!! We have such great friends and neighbors and I can't begin to tell you how lucky we are! And did I mention how fun it was?? It was quite the party....great bride and groom! Great food! Great band! Cute brides maid dresses(let's be honest..this is a rare thing) LOVED the cake! Great people! And location, location, location!! Sawyer had so much fun dancing...he loved his cute little friend Riley and just kept wanting her to dance with him:-) needless to say he was
bummed when we had to leave:-( and....so was I.
It's nice to get out and feel like things are normal...like my life is normal. There is always this guilt thing going on in my head. Tonight, as I was heading back up to the hospital, I started feeling a little guilty....guilty that I had such a good time while Graham was stuck in a hospital room. This type of thing happens often...Every time I leave Sawyer I sit and go over our night and what we did in my head. Sometimes I leave feeling like we had good quality time together, but other times I feel guilty and sad because I got after him, or didn't play enough with him, etc....I guess it's the normal mom thing to feel guilty right?...I just feel like all of my time needs to be used so carefully and that I can't waste it because i can't make up for it until the next day. Not sure if the above made sense?? I have just thought about it a lot lately. I just keep thinking how I need to make sure and use my time with my boys more wisely. Time really has become so precious:-)
So today was day 3 of chemo...2 more to go! Graham is doing pretty good- he has been uncomfortable and fussy but I'm not sure if it's nausea? Aching body? Or maybe just bored, Bored, BORED! No complications...knock on wood! So for now...so far, so good!
